We would like to thank Donald Purdey of Redlands for submitting spectacular photos of his favorite San Bernardino County destination.

If you’re looking to stay cool this season, head over to Big Falls Trail in Forest Falls. To reach the trailhead, turn east off Highway 38 to Valley of the Falls Road in Forest Falls. Continue through the community to the top end of the road. Big Falls trailhead will be the first main parking lot on the left, immediately before the picnic area.

Walk down the creek area about five minutes, then cross the wash. Continue up the trail for one tenth of a mile to the waterfall overlook. Once you reach the overlook, you can enjoy an excellent view of one of the tallest waterfalls in Southern California. Please note, it is not recommended to cross the wash when the water flow is high or when thunderstorms are predicted. Additionally, hikers should not go past the overlook due to loose, slippery and steep terrain. Also, an Adventure Pass may be required and can be obtained from the San Bernardino National Forest.
