Monsoon Awareness Week runs from June 9–15, and San Bernardino County encourages all residents to be prepared as we head into this year’s monsoon season.
While monsoonal thunderstorms often impact our mountain and desert regions, they can also bring sudden and severe weather to areas west of the mountains, including the Inland Empire. The monsoon isn’t a single storm, it’s a seasonal weather pattern that typically spans from mid-June through late September, bringing much-needed rainfall and, unfortunately, a range of potential hazards like flash flooding, lightning, downburst winds and wildfires.
Throughout the week, the National Weather Service of San Diego and weather partners across the Southwest will share valuable information about the North American Monsoon and how to stay safe during this time of year.
