San Bernardino County celebrated the opening of five new pickleball courts at MacKay Park in Lake Arrowhead with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week. The project adds to the growing recreational opportunities in the mountain community and reflects the county’s commitment to health, wellness and outdoor spaces.
The new courts were constructed with 110 cubic yards of concrete, 35 cubic yards of decomposed granite and 465 feet of fencing. These improvements build on the park’s first three courts, completed in 2021 for a total of eight, and offers residents and visitors even more space to enjoy one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports.
“This isn’t just about new pickleball courts, it’s about what they represent: opportunity, health, and community,” said San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “Pickleball is popular because it’s fun, accessible, and brings people together. Families, friends, and neighbors will be out here making memories for years to come.”
The Board of Supervisors is committed to creating healthy, thriving communities across San Bernardino County, and these courts are a perfect example of that commitment in action.
The expansion was made possible with support from Supervisor Rowe, along with the collaboration of Special Districts staff, park advisory committee members, and community partners.
