PetSmart Charities adoption event helps more shelter pets find homes this June
San Bernardino County Animal Care is partnering with PetSmart Charities to help more pets find loving homes at a special adoption event in Fontana on Saturday, June 27, from 1-3 p.m.
Community members are invited to stop by the Fontana PetSmart to meet adoptable pets, learn about the County’s Animal Care programs, and take home a new best friend.
Adoption fees are currently waived for qualifying pets! Each qualifying adoption includes spaying or neutering, a microchip, and age-appropriate vaccinations.
New adopters will also receive 30 days of complimentary pet insurance through MetLife Pet Insurance to help ease the transition into pet parenthood.

safeTALK Suicide Alertness Training
Build skills to recognize and respond to signs of suicide through safeTALK Suicide Alertness Training with San Bernardino County Behavioral Health.
In this free three-hour training, participants will learn how to recognize and support a person with thoughts of suicide. Participants will become a safeTALK-trained suicide alert helper.
Over the course of training, participants will learn to:
- Notice and respond to situations where suicidal thoughts might be present
- Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked
- Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss and avoid suicide
- Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, and Keep Safe
- Know community resources

QPR Suicide Prevention virtual training
Learn to Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) through free virtual and in-person suicide prevention training on Tuesday, June 30, offered by San Bernardino County Behavioral Health.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training is an evidence‑based suicide prevention program designed to teach community members how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and respond effectively. Participants learn three simple, life‑saving steps: how to ask someone if they are considering suicide, how to offer hope through supportive communication and how to connect them with appropriate help.
This interactive training helps staff build confidence, develop practical intervention skills and better understand local behavioral health resources. QPR is designed for anyone—no clinical background required—and empowers participants to play an active role in supporting the safety and well‑being of individuals in our community.

Join Regional Parks for this Night Walk activity for all ages to explore the park after dark Saturday, July 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Mojave River Forks Regional Park.
Get ready to explore the wonders of the night as we search for owls, glowing scorpions and other nocturnal creatures at Mojave River Forks Regional Park on Saturday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Each walk is about 45 minutes and two walks are scheduled to depart at 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. from the campground.
With the stunning night sky as our backdrop, we’ll uncover hidden surprises and learn about the incredible wildlife that comes to life towards sunset.
This family-friendly adventure is perfect for explorers of all ages — so grab your flashlight, bring your sense of adventure and get ready for a night to remember!
Mojave River Forks is a campground with hiking trails. Please wear comfortable shoes, dress appropriately, bring a flashlight and water and/or snacks.

Admission is $15 per vehicle. Due to limited internet connection, only cash is accepted or you can pre-pay and show your receipt at the gate when you arrive.

Beat the heat and make a splash at Lake Gregory Regional Park’s inflatable waterpark now open through Labor Day weekend.
The wait is over! Lake Gregory Regional Park is open daily for Summer 2026 through Labor Day weekend. Grab your friends and family and spend the day swimming, racing down waterslides, bouncing across our inflatable waterpark, cruising the lake and enjoying delicious food with mountain views.
Lake swimming hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
General Beach Pass

All-Access Beach Pass
- Includes beach entry, swimming, waterslides, and the inflatable waterpark: $32/day

Make a splash with the Catch the Wave Summer Reading Program
Catch the Wave with the San Bernardino County Library this summer and dive into a season full of stories, adventure and imagination! Join our Summer Reading Program from June 8 through Aug. 2 for exciting books, fun activities and rewards all summer long.
The San Bernardino County Library is ready to make waves this summer with the launch of its annual Summer Reading Program (SRP), “Catch the Wave!” running through Aug. 2 at library branches across the county.
Readers of all ages are invited to dive into a summer packed with books, activities and shore-to-please events designed to keep minds active and imaginations swimming all season long. From toddlers to adults, participants can log reading, reel in prizes and ride the tide of discovery through free programs and hands-on experiences.
Participants can register beginning June 8 through the library’s Beanstack portal or at their local branch library.
“This year’s Summer Reading Program invites the community to surf into stories, explore new horizons and ‘seas’ the day through reading and learning,” said County Librarian Melanie Orosco. “Whether you’re flipping pages by the pool or diving into a new genre, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Throughout the summer, library branches will host a wave of free events and educational entertainment, including:
- Live performances and interactive shows
- Family storytimes and themed programs
- Teen and adult engagement events
- Reading challenges and prize opportunities
The SRP helps prevent summer learning loss while encouraging lifelong literacy, creativity and community connection. Families are encouraged to “shell-e-brate” the season by visiting their local library and participating in programs designed to make reading part of every summer adventure.

Summer swim season continues at Glen Helen and Yucaipa swim complexes through Labor Day
Regional Parks is excited to welcome everyone back to the Glen Helen and Yucaipa swim facilities this summer. The 2026 swim season schedule is as follows:
- June 16-30 (every day except Mondays)
- Fourth of July Weekend: July 3-5
- July 7-31 (closed Mondays)
- Aug. 1-30 (Saturday and Sundays only)
- Labor Day Weekend: Sept. 5-7
Park and swim facility admission fees are separate. Park admission is $10 per vehicle Monday through Friday and $15 per vehicle on weekends and holidays. Holiday weekends include Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Swim ticket prices (now includes waterslide access)
- Weekdays and weekends (non-holidays) Daily: $15 per person
- Holidays, holiday weekends: $20 per person
- (Example of a holiday weekend is if the holiday is on a Friday, the holiday price also applies to the Saturday and Sunday that follows. If the holiday is on a Monday, the holiday price also applies to the Saturday and Sunday that leads up to the Monday holiday.)
- Children under age three (3) are free.
- Family 4-pack $55 (does not apply to children under the age of 3 because their admission is free)
- Family 4-pack not available for purchase on holidays and special events.
Waterslide height requirement
- Must be at least 48″ (inches) tall to ride the slides.
Swim entry is first-come, first-served, and reservations are not accepted. Visitors are encouraged to arrive as early as possible. The swim complexes may reach capacity early in the morning. The park opens at 7:30 a.m., and visitors are welcome to wait in line before the complex opens at 10 a.m.
Once all the wristbands are sold for the day, no new visitors will be allowed inside. Only service animals are allowed inside the swim complexes. No grills are allowed in the swim complexes. Swimmers who have wristbands may exit and re-enter the complex throughout the day until the pool closes at 4 p.m.
Yucaipa Swim Complex cabanas
No online or call-ahead reservations are accepted. Check availability at the swim complex on the day of the visit. Reservations and payment are accepted on the day of the visit at Yucaipa Regional Park’s pool facility on a first-come, first-served basis.
Weekends are considered Saturday and Sunday. Depending on what day a holiday falls on, holiday weekends may include a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and/or Monday.
Three (3) small picnic shelters with table and grill are available:
- Daily (excluding holidays, holiday weekends and special events): $50/day
- Daily on holidays, holiday weekends and special events: $100/day

County Library seeking car enthusiasts for “Read, Write, and Cruise” Route 66 Centennial Car Show
Car enthusiasts and community members across the High Desert are invited to rev up their engines for the Read, Write, and Cruise Car Show, rolling into the Hesperia Branch Library parking lot in celebration of the 100th anniversary of historic Route 66.
The event, hosted by the San Bernardino County Library, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a high-energy, family-friendly event that brings together chrome, culture and community all in one place.
With 100 total exhibit spaces available, vehicle registration is now open. Car enthusiasts are encouraged to claim their spot early. The library is currently accepting applications from participants showcasing hot rods, classic cars and off-road builds, with free entry for vehicle exhibitors.
“Celebrating Route 66’s centennial gives us a unique opportunity to connect history, culture and community in a meaningful way,” said County Library Events Coordinator Jenni McCormick. “Read, Write, and Cruise brings together a shared passion for automotive culture while highlighting the library as a place for learning, creativity and connection.”
Attendees can expect a show-stopping lineup of vehicles — from polished classics to rugged off-roaders — alongside live entertainment, community vendors and interactive activities for all ages.
Guests are also invited to explore library resources and discover programs that keep the community learning and engaged all year long.
More than just a car show, Read, Write, and Cruise puts the County Library in the driver’s seat of innovative programming — where horsepower meets brainpower in celebration of Route 66’s legendary legacy.
The show will be open to the public at no charge and will feature up to 100 cars, along with music, food, vendors and prizes.
