Children and Family Services (CFS) is hosting a back-to-school Giveaway event on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free to the public and will be held at the CFS Central Regional office located at 1094 South E Street in San Bernardino. Giveaways will include backpacks and school supplies for the first 300 children and youth who attend. The free backpacks were generously donated by Children’s Fund. There will be food and fun activities for children and youth including face painting, arts and crafts activities, and board games. Local vendors and community partners will be at the event with information on resources and services for children and families.
Children and Family Services Director Jeany Zepeda said, “I am thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our first-ever backpack giveaway event for our community. The idea was suggested by Supervising Social Services Practitioner April Hampton and was quickly supported by CFS leadership to make it a fun and exciting occasion for the children and families of San Bernardino County. Our partner, Children’s Fund, has been a great help in bringing this event to life, and we are truly grateful for their efforts. We are excited to see the children receiving the necessary supplies to be successful in their education journey.”
