mastodonBring Dad to the San Bernardino County Museum on Father’s Day, June 19, and create a special gift for him during a Family FunSunday. Craft activities, scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m., are included with general museum admission.

Marvel at the museum’s most recent exhibit, “Mastodons! Prehistoric Elephants in the Southwest,” opening June 11 in the gallery of geology and paleontology. Special exhibits open during the day also include “Mysteries at the Museum,” “California Bling,” and “Turn Left at the Rockies.” Families will enjoy sharing memories on the Remembering Ramps and disappearing into the walls as they learn about how animals disguise themselves in nature. Fossils, birds, mammals, and prehistoric and historic artifacts are also on exhibit. The Exploration Station live animal gallery will also be open from 1 to 4 p.m.

Family FunSundays and the County Museum’s other exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort by the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating arts, culture, and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Needlework demonstrations are is included with museum admission. Parking is free.
