The public is invited to a second round of regional open houses for the Countywide Plan that will include a formal presentation and opportunities to provide feedback on draft goals and policies, community actions and the land use map.
WHAT WILL THE MEETINGS COVER?
- Presentation. The County will provide an overview of progress since the 2017 Regional Open Houses, draft changes in County policy, and next steps in the Countywide Plan. The presentation will begin 30 minutes after the open house start time.
- Draft Material for Review. Come view and provide feedback on the Draft County Policy Plan (goals and policies), updated Draft Community Plans / Action Guides, the latest Draft Land Use Map, and other policy & information maps.
- Open House Discussion. County and consultant staff will be on hand to answer questions and talk with attendees one-on-one, both before and after the presentation.
People may drop in to any location at any time during the advertised time frame to review material, ask questions, and share ideas with County staff. Open house materials will be posted in advance on the project website: countywideplan.com/openhouse. For people who cannot participate in person, please visit the project website to view meeting materials and submit questions and feedback.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
All persons are welcome at any open house, as the Countywide Plan will touch on aspects that may affect anyone who lives, works or owns property in a city, town, or unincorporated community in San Bernardino County. The Countywide Plan will primarily address unincorporated areas. However, County policies, programs, and services can also affect incorporated cities and towns. In addition to residents, we encourage the attendance of service providers, nonprofits, the business community, and representatives from local, state, federal, and tribal agencies.

ABOUT THE COUNTYWIDE PLAN AND COMMUNITY PLANS
From 2010 to 2011, the creation of a Countywide Vision included input from over 100 topical experts, 25 special districts and agencies, 18 community meetings, and over 3,600 resident surveys. In 2015, the County launched the preparation of the first Countywide Plan, which is being developed over the course of three years to enhance coordination with the public, with outside agencies and organizations, and within the County organization itself. It will serve as a resource for efficient and effective decision-making regarding countywide services and resources.
The Countywide Plan effort includes updating Community Plans to guide local expectations for County services and set clear direction for the future of specified unincorporated communities.
The ongoing civic engagement process for the Countywide Plan has included over 75 public meetings in dozens of communities, attracting over 2,400 participants. This public input led directly to substantial changes to the draft documents and maps. Thank you for continuing to participate to improve your community and county!
