Child Abuse Prevention Coordinator Xeneida Brown, C.A.S.E. Coordinator Angel Magallanes, and Children’s Network Interim Officer Kristin Hinds.

Angel Magallanes, coordinator of the Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation (C.A.S.E), was presented with the Service to Youth Award by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission of San Bernardino County during the 36th Annual Recognition of Service to Youth Awards, where she was also the keynote speaker.

The annual recognition program honors individuals, organizations, public agencies and companies throughout the county who have made a significant contribution towards strengthening youth programs and services in the region.

As the C.A.S.E coordinator, Magallanes conducts outreach efforts and meetings to raise awareness about human trafficking in San Bernardino County. Magallanes actively participates in community events, working to address the issue.

“I believe in the work C.A.S.E. is doing in the community and the services we provide to our young clients,” said Magallanes. “I work with an incredible team of individuals who are as dedicated as I am to helping youth overcome whatever adversities they are experiencing, including getting them away from the victimization of trafficking. Receiving this recognition encourages me to continue the mission to combat human trafficking through education and activism. I’m grateful to the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission for honoring me with this prestigious award.

To equip those on the front lines, Magallanes delivered more than forty domestic minor trafficking awareness presentations to over 1,400 first responders last year. She is the point of contact in a consultant capacity, offering guidance and resources for hospitals, schools, law enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Over the past five years, Magallanes has been a force behind two statewide initiatives, Prevention and Addressing Child Trafficking (PACT) and the California Child’s Welfare Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (C.S.E.C.) Action Team. Collaboration efforts between C.A.S.E. and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department culminates in human trafficking awareness events every January.
