The Department of Aging and Adult Services-Public Guardian (DAAS-PG) is seeking participation in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) for eligible older adults looking to enter or return to the workforce. SCSEP is funded through the Older Americans Act Title V funding and offers part-time, on-the-job training positions to qualified, unemployed San Bernardino County residents who are at least 55 years of age and meet federal low-income guidelines.

The SCSEP program is a temporary stepping-stone into the workforce and serves as a pathway to finding permanent employment. Program participants are required to conduct job searches that will allow the next program participant to take their place. Individuals who apply for the program may have to wait for a vacant training slot to be considered.

The Senior Community Service Employment Program offers:

  • On-the-job training with government and non-profit agencies for 20 hours per week at minimum wage.
  • Workshops to teach you the best methods for searching, applying, interviewing and getting the right job for you.
  • Referrals to agencies who have funds to pay for additional classroom training if appropriate to your job goals.
  • Occupational training to help you acquire new job skills or upgrade the ones you have.
  • Referrals to other employment and training programs.
  • Referrals to other senior and social programs to help you in other aspects of your life.
