First 5 San Bernardino is celebrating 25 years of serving young children and families in San Bernardino County! For a quarter century, we have provided resources and support to parents of children under five so every child can have a strong start and better life.

Our success lies in partnering with San Bernardino County organizations that provide family support services and share in our mission. Our organization has grown substantially over the years, and now serves tens of thousands of children, parents and caregivers through its programs and partnerships.

“We know that parenting is just as challenging as it is rewarding, and we are proud to have been supporting our county’s parents and caregivers for so long,” said Executive Director Karen Scott. “We have worked hard to build meaningful partnerships with the organizations in our county who are meeting our families where they’re at. Last year alone, we attended 51 community events with resources and supplies.”

The annual Local Outcomes Report tells the story of the organization’s investments by detailing data and initiatives that produced impressive results impacting children and families in San Bernardino County.

For example, in fiscal year 2023, 61,050 individuals were served in the areas of child health, family support and early learning. Specifically, Help Me Grow Inland Empire served 3,145 children through early identification of developmental delays by connecting families to existing community resources. Additionally, 8,751 books were distributed to children through the Reach Out and Read Inland Empire program that provides books to pediatric providers.

In celebration of this major milestone, First 5 San Bernardino has introduced a new campaign featuring endearing monster and alien illustrations letting us all know that “even monsters/aliens care about the first 5 years.” The campaign showcases new partnerships, advertising, social media giveaways and more! Our year-round campaigns help our county’s very young children throughout the big and small moments of their childhood, giving them a stronger start and a better life. First 5 San Bernardino thanks its partners, supporters, county leaders and the whole community for working with us for 25 years.
