The newly designed Veterans Affairs website received a 2025 NACo Achievement Award.

San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs (VA) has been recognized with a prestigious Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for its newly launched website, va.sbcounty.gov. This honor highlights the countyโ€™s commitment to improving access to vital services and benefits for veterans and their families through innovative and user-friendly digital solutions.

โ€œThis recognition from NACo is a proud moment for our department and a reflection of our unwavering commitment to serving San Bernardino Countyโ€™s veteran community,โ€ said Matt Knox, director of Veterans Affairs. โ€œItโ€™s more than just a digital platformโ€”itโ€™s a gateway to the benefits and support theyโ€™ve earned through their service.โ€

The NACo Achievement Awards are presented annually to county programs that exemplify innovation, efficiency, and demonstrate a positive impact on the community. San Bernardino Countyโ€™s VA website, launched in 2024, stood out among all 58 California counties for its collaborative development with the countyโ€™s Innovation and Technology Department. The site features modern web technologies that enhance content organization and simplify navigationโ€”making it easier than ever for veterans to find the support they need.

Through the website, veterans and their families can now more easily apply for and manage a wide range of services and benefits, including:

  • Compensation for service-related disabilities
  • Pensions for non-service-connected disabilities
  • Education benefits and California College Fee Waivers
  • Requests for military service records
  • Disabled veterans park entrance passes
  • Government life insurance and access to insurance proceeds
  • California veterans license plates and veteran ID cards
  • Military Survivor Benefits Plan (MSBP)
