On Nov. 13, more than 90 children aged 7 months to 17 years old were adopted into their forever homes at the San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) 25th Annual Adoption Finalization Event in partnership with the Superior Court of California and the San Bernardino County Juvenile Court.
Families gathered at the Ontario Convention Center to celebrate the finalization of their adoptions. Taking place during National Adoption Month, the event highlighted the impact of adoption and the community-wide effort to ensure that youth grow up in safe, stable and supportive homes.
This yearโs theme, โRiding into the Sunset to a Place Called Home,โ brought a warm, western-inspired atmosphere to the celebration, honoring the journey each child and family has taken toward permanency. CFS provided activities for families as they awaited their courtroom time, including face painting, balloon animals, themed photo areas and community resource tables offering support and information.
The celebration featured heartfelt remarks from San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., state Assemblyman Tom Lackey, San Bernardino County Superior Court Presiding Judge Lisa Rogan, CFS Director Jeany Glasgow and CFS Assistant Director Jonathan Byers. Each speaker congratulated the families and emphasized the profound impact of creating stable, loving homes for youth.
โToday, we celebrate love in action. Love that heals. Love that transforms. Love that says you are part of this family, forever,โ Glasgow said.
The annual adoption finalization event reflects CFSโs ongoing commitment to helping every child achieve permanency when reunification with their biological families is no longer possible. Itโs a powerful reminder of the critical work being done to give every child the opportunity to grow up in safe, nurturing homes.
