San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services is inviting the public to help shape the 2027 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan update by taking a brief survey.

San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services invites residents, businesses and community organizations to share feedback through a public survey for the 2027 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJHMP) update.

The MJHMP identifies hazards that could affect communities across the county and recommends long-term actions to reduce risk before disasters occur. The plan also helps the county and participating communities remain eligible for federal hazard mitigation grant funding. Survey responses will be shared with the Hazard Mitigation Planning Team to help identify local concerns, past hazard impacts and possible ways to reduce future losses.

The update focuses on the following hazards:

  • Dam and levee incidents
  • Drought
  • Earthquakes
  • Extreme heat
  • Floods
  • Mass earth movements: Landslides, rock falls and debris flows
  • Severe storms (hail and lightning)
  • Severe winter weather, including extreme cold
  • Severe winds and tornadoes
  • Wildfires
  • Terrorism
  • Pandemics

The MJHMP covers all unincorporated communities in San Bernardino County, as well as San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, San Bernardino County Flood Control District, San Bernardino County Special Districts, Apple Valley Fire District, Bear Valley Community Health District, Big Bear City Community Services District, Big Bear Fire Authority, Big Bear Municipal Water District, the cities of Big Bear Lake, Chino, Highland, Loma Linda, Montclair, Needles, Redlands, Twentynine Palms, and Yucaipa and San Bernardino City Unified School District.

Visit sbcountyhmp.konveio.com to take the survey and learn more about the planning process. The survey will remain open through Sept. 8, 2026. Feedback will help participating jurisdictions identify local risks, prioritize mitigation efforts and maintain eligibility for federal hazard mitigation funding.
