Give a pet a loving home – Adopt at Petco in Big Bear Lake

San Bernardino County Animal Care is teaming up with Petco Love to bring adoptable pets to the Big Bear Lake Petco on Saturday, July 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Thanks to the Animals aRe First Fund, adoption fees are fully sponsored for this event. All qualifying adoptions include free spay or neuter, microchipping and most vaccines.

The event is part of Petco Love’s ongoing mission to create a world where every shelter pet finds a loving home. Since its founding, Petco Love has helped nearly 7 million pets find families through partnerships with organizations like San Bernardino County Animal Care.

Explore Mojave River Forks for a nighttime adventure spotting nocturnal wildlife

Join Regional Parks for a nighttime scavenger hunt on Friday, Sept. 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Get ready to explore the wonders of the night as we search for owls, glowing scorpions and other nocturnal creatures at Mojave River Forks Regional Park on Saturday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Each walk is about 45 minutes and two walks are scheduled to depart at 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. from the campground.

With the stunning night sky as our backdrop, we’ll uncover hidden surprises and learn about the incredible wildlife that come to life towards sunset.

This family-friendly adventure is perfect for explorers of all ages — so grab your flashlight, bring your sense of adventure and get ready for a night to remember!

Mojave River Forks is a campground with hiking trails. Please wear comfortable shoes, dress appropriately, bring a flashlight and water and/or snacks.

All ages are welcome. Leashed pets are welcome too!

Admission is $15 per vehicle. Due to limited internet connection, only cash is accepted or you can pre-pay and show your receipt at the gate when you arrive.

Catch World Cup matches during official FIFA watch parties at Kessler Park and Prado Regional Park

San Bernardino County Regional Parks and Special Districts are excited to host two official FIFA-sanctioned World Cup watch parties featuring the quarterfinal matches at Kessler Park on Saturday, July 11, from 1 to 9 p.m., and the championship match at Prado Regional Park on Sunday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guests can enjoy a spectacular viewing experience of the quarterfinal and championship matches on a 17-foot by 10-foot Mega LED screen with surround sound. Each park offers spacious viewing areas where fans can cheer on their favorite teams and players. The parties will also include food vendors, fun zone areas with inflatables, family-friendly activities and more. All ages are welcome. Leashed pets are welcome too!

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors recently approved the FIFA World Cup watch parties at both parks as a way to provide a low-cost, family-friendly opportunity for residents and communities to connect and engage together while enjoying outdoor recreational activities that align with the Countywide Vision.

Guests can come in their favorite team or player’s jersey and set up their own space with chairs, blankets, snacks and coolers. Pop-up tents, umbrellas, loud music and barbecues will not be allowed in the viewing area to help ensure everyone can see the screen and hear the matches.

Get ready to join Regional Parks from July 14–16 for a Summer Day Camp at Prado Regional Park designed to inspire curiosity, encourage teamwork and create lasting memories while exploring the outdoors.

Get ready for a summer full of adventure, creativity and outdoor fun with Regional Parks’ three-day Summer Day Camp at Prado Regional Park. The program will take place July 14–16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join us for exciting hands-on activities, such as creative crafting, nature-based park exploration and participating in fun interactive group games.

The day camp program is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage teamwork and create lasting memories while exploring the outdoors. Don’t miss this opportunity to make new friends, build confidence and enjoy unforgettable summer adventures at Regional Parks.

All supplies will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring water and/or snacks, wear light cool clothing, comfortable shoes, hat and sunscreen. All ages are welcome to join us for this two-hour program each day.

Children and Family Services will host backpack giveaway events to help students prepare for the new school year.

San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) invites families to attend its community backpack giveaway events, which are packed with fun and resources for the school year ahead. The first 500 children in grades TK–12 will receive a free backpack filled with essential school supplies. Attendees can also enjoy interactive games, face painting, a community resource vendor fair, giveaways, food and drinks, music and dancing.

Summer swim season continues at Glen Helen and Yucaipa swim complexes through Labor Day

Spend the summer cooling off at the swim complexes at Glen Helen and Yucaipa Regional Parks! Visitors can enjoy swimming, waterslides and family fun all season long.

The swim complexes are open:

  • July 7-31 (closed Mondays)
  • August 1-30 (Saturdays and Sundays only)
  • Labor Day weekend: Sept. 5-7

Park and swim facility admission fees are separate. Park admission is $10 per vehicle Monday-Friday and $15 per vehicle on weekends and holidays. Holiday weekends include Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Swim ticket prices (now includes waterslide access)

  • Weekdays and weekends (non-holidays): $15/per person
  • Holidays and holiday weekends: $20/per person
  • Children under age three are free
  • Family four-pack (not available for purchase on holidays and special events): $55

Waterslide height requirement

  • Must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the slides.  

Swim admission is first come, first served, and reservations are not accepted. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early because the swim complexes may reach capacity.

Once all the wristbands are sold for the day, no new visitors will be allowed inside. Only service animals are allowed inside the swim complexes. No grills are allowed in the swim complexes. Swimmers who have wristbands may exit and re-enter the complex throughout the day until the pool closes at 4 p.m.

Lake Gregory Regional Park is open daily through Labor Day weekend. Grab your friends and family and spend the day swimming, racing down waterslides, bouncing across our inflatable waterpark, cruising the lake and enjoying delicious food with mountain views.

Lake swimming hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Beach Access Passes

  • General Access Beach Pass: $17/day and includes park entry, beach and splash pad access.
  • All-Access Beach Pass: $32/day and includes park entry, beach and splash pad, waterslides and inflatable waterpark.

Lake Gregory has 84 surface acres for swimming, water sports and other summer recreation. Tag your summer crew and we’ll see you at the lake!

Lake Gregory is managed by San Bernardino County Regional Parks but is operated by The Lake Gregory Company and offers year-round events and activities.
