San Bernardino County Fire recently welcomed Board of Supervisors Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. for a firsthand look at ongoing fuels reduction work along the North San Bernardino Front Country.
These projects are designed to reduce hazardous vegetation, improve defensible space and provide firefighters with strategic areas to more effectively engage wildfires before they reach nearby communities.
Projects of this scale require significant planning and coordination. Before work begins, teams must consider a variety of factors, including environmental impacts and the protection of sensitive plant and animal species. This careful planning allows fuels reduction work to move forward responsibly while reducing wildfire risk, protecting local plants and wildlife and preserving natural resources.
Through specialized crews, heavy equipment and strong partnerships, San Bernardino County Fire continues working year-round to reduce wildfire risk and help protect our communities and values at risk.
