The San Bernardino County Probation Department proudly participated in 2026 National Night Out celebrations throughout the county, joining residents, families, community organizations and fellow public safety agencies for an evening centered on connection.
Local celebrations offered something for everyone, including games, food, entertainment, community resources and family-friendly activities. More importantly, they created a welcoming environment where residents could meet the officers who serve their communities and engage with them outside of a formal law enforcement setting. The department’s participation in events throughout the county reflects its continued commitment to community engagement and public safety.
For our officers, National Night Out offered a chance to connect with residents in a relaxed and welcoming setting, sharing conversations and enjoying the festivities together. These interactions allowed residents to get to know the people behind the badge, people who are committed to serving, supporting and protecting San Bernardino County.
The evening also gave families an opportunity to learn more about the role of the Probation Department. While many residents may be familiar with Probation’s supervision and enforcement responsibilities, the department’s work extends much further. Officers help promote accountability, connect individuals and families with services, support rehabilitation and reentry and work closely with courts, law enforcement agencies and community partners to help create safer neighborhoods.
National Night Out reminds us that public safety is strengthened through relationships. When families know their officers, understand the work they do and feel comfortable approaching them, communities become more connected. Our officers appreciated the opportunity to meet so many residents, enjoy time with local families and stand alongside the many agencies and organizations committed to serving their communities.
