San Bernardino County has been honored by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) with its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for producing a Fiscal Year 2025–26 budget document that meets the highest standards of governmental budgeting.

The latest recognition brings the county’s total to 18 awards, demonstrating the organization’s continued focus on long-term planning and accountability. In addition to receiving the award, the county’s budget book also earned special recognition for Strategic Goals and Strategies. According to GFOA, this distinction is awarded when all three independent reviewers give the highest possible score in a specific category.

“This award is a reflection of the dedication and expertise of the county’s finance team, executive leadership and departments,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “It highlights the work that goes into developing a budget document that is clear, responsible and transparent.”

“Our staff worked diligently to prepare a high-quality budget document for Fiscal Year 2025-26,” said County CEO Luther Snoke. “This recognition is a strong reminder of the level of effort that occurs behind the scenes and the importance of that work in supporting our communities.”

GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to recognize state and local governments that follow the guidelines of the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and GFOA’s best practices. The award is presented to budget documents that serve as a policy guide, financial plan, operations manual and communications tool.

The 2025–26 budget and budgets from previous years can be viewed on the county’s website. More information about the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program can be found on GFOA’s website.
