As part of the county’s new “Explore San Bernardino County Services” campaign, residents are encouraged to discover the many programs, facilities and resources available throughout the nation’s largest county by area. Among those offerings is San Bernardino County Regional Parks, a premier destination for recreation, nature and family fun across the Inland Empire.
The Regional Parks system includes nine regional parks, one nature preserve and one regional trail, providing opportunities for residents and visitors to explore the outdoors in mountain, valley and desert communities throughout San Bernardino County.
Across the nation’s largest county by area, Regional Parks offers something for every type of outdoor enthusiast. From waterslides and splash pads to stocked fishing lakes, boating opportunities, camping and scenic open spaces, the county’s parks provide accessible and affordable ways to stay active and connected with nature all summer long.
Dive into summer fun
Summer favorites are back at Glen Helen and Yucaipa Regional Parks, where visitors can enjoy lagoon-style swim complexes featuring waterslides, splash pads, sandy beach areas and lifeguard-supervised swimming.
Glen Helen Regional Park offers rodeo-themed waterslides, a zero-depth splash pad and a snack bar, while Yucaipa Regional Park features a beach-entry swim lagoon, double-flume waterslides and cabana rentals for families looking to spend the day by the water.
For younger children, splash pads at Cucamonga-Guasti, Prado and Mojave Narrows Regional Parks provide a refreshing way to play and cool off during the summer months.
Cast a line at county lakes
Fishing remains one of the most popular activities throughout the Regional Parks system. Lakes at Cucamonga-Guasti, Glen Helen, Yucaipa, Prado and Mojave Narrows regional parks are stocked year-round with catfish during the summer and trout during the cooler months.
Whether you’re a seasoned angler or introducing a child to fishing for the first time, Regional Parks offers opportunities for all skill levels, bait for purchase, fishing workshops and special events throughout the year.
Enjoy boating and water recreation
Visitors can also enjoy boating and other water recreation at several Regional Parks locations.
Pedal boat rentals are available at Prado and Yucaipa Regional Parks. Kayak rentals are available at Mojave Narrows, and park visitors can launch their own hard-bottom kayaks at Prado Regional Park in the new upgraded boat launch area.
These activities provide a relaxing way to enjoy the outdoors while taking in the natural beauty of San Bernardino County’s regional parks.
For those seeking a mountain getaway, Lake Gregory Regional Park in Crestline offers lake swimming, waterslides, inflatable water attractions and boat rentals, making it a popular destination for families looking to escape the summer heat.
Make it a full-day adventure
Aside from water recreation, Regional Parks offers picnic areas, playgrounds, camping, hiking trails and reservable shelters that make it easy to turn a quick outing into a full-day adventure.
Each park hosts annual events, educational programs and seasonal family-friendly activities, creating opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors together.
Stay safe while having fun
As families head outdoors this summer, visitors should practice water safety by closely supervising children, wearing a life jacket during water activities, learning swimming skills and staying aware of changing conditions around lakes and pools.
Regional Parks also partners with community organizations and public safety agencies to promote water safety education and help visitors enjoy recreational activities responsibly.
By providing safe, accessible and affordable recreational opportunities, the county is enhancing quality of life, promoting healthy lifestyles and creating opportunities for residents to enjoy the region’s diverse assets in alignment with the Countywide Vision.
