Thinking about running for local office? San Bernardino County residents interested in serving their communities through elected office have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, to file their candidacy documents for the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election.
More than 300 local offices are up for election across San Bernardino County, including city, school district and special district offices. These elected offices help shape the policies, services and quality of life in communities throughout the county.
Anyone interested in running for school district or special district offices may obtain candidacy documents from the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters, located at 777 E. Rialto Ave. in San Bernardino, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Candidates are encouraged to schedule an online or in-person appointment through Elections.SBCounty.gov or by calling 909-387-8300.
Completed candidacy documents for these offices must be filed with the Registrar of Voters no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7.
To be eligible for candidacy, a person must be a registered voter residing within the district and, where applicable, the division or area they wish to represent at the time candidacy documents are issued. Anyone interested in running can verify their voter registration and district eligibility using the Registrar of Voters’ My Elections Gateway at Elections.SBCounty.gov.
Anyone interested in running for a city office should contact the appropriate city clerk’s office to obtain information about candidacy requirements and filing procedures.
