San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs joined hundreds of county and community volunteers throughout the county Jan. 25 for the Point-in-Time Count (PITC).

“The Veterans Affairs team was deeply moved and touched by the experience of participating in the PITC,” said San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs Director Ralph Duarte. “Witnessing the struggles of homeless veterans in our community and learning about the incredible work being done to support them has left us feeling humbled and inspired.”

The PITC is a one-day survey of homeless individuals in the county that helps the county and its community partners secure funding to provide the services and supports that are needed for individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless become self-sufficient.

Unhoused veterans were connected to services and shelter in real time. Services were also available to the elderly, families, people in need of behavioral health services and others with special needs.
