San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs (VA) is excited to announce our field site visit to the Morongo Basin area. According to the US Census Bureau, around 5,000 veterans live in Joshua Tree and the surrounding cities. Because of the proximity to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, there is no surprise that the Morongo Basin region has a significant veteran population.

Veterans and their families now have access to an accredited Veterans Service Officer (VSO) who can assist them with all their VA benefit needs. Every second Wednesday of the month, a VSO will provide VA benefits assistance at the Joshua Tree Courthouse at 6527 White Feather Rd. in Joshua Tree from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will be closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm.

All services provided by San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs are free. It has been found that working with an accredited VSO can lead to faster and more positive VA benefit outcomes than filing a claim without assistance. Veterans Affairs VSOs are experts in VA benefits and work diligently and thoroughly to maximize your VA benefits. Since Congress passed the PACT Act in August 2022 more veterans are eligible for VA healthcare and benefits than ever before. Therefore, veterans and family members are encouraged to inquire about possible VA PACT Act eligibility. VA benefits may provide tax-free monthly monetary benefits, educational benefits to dependents or healthcare for life.
