Regional Parks pools open Tuesdays through Sundays for summer
Regional Parks 2024 swim season has begun at Glen Helen and Yucaipa Regional Parks and both swim complexes are now open daily (except on Mondays) through Sunday, August 4. Daily hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We advise swimmers to arrive early as the line begins to form when the parks open at 7:30 a.m. Once each complex reaches capacity, NO NEW ARRIVALS will be allowed inside. After August 4th, both swim complexes will return to the weekend schedules through Labor Day .

Lake Gregory summer-long Paws n’ Paddle event returns
The popular Paws n’ Paddle at Lake Gregory San Moritz Meadow returns this month and is scheduled every second Sunday through September 15th. Bring your furry companions and rent a vessel for a leisurely paddle on the water. It’s a unique opportunity for non-service animals to enjoy our vessels, with options including canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. This event takes place near the Bait n’ Tackle Shop from 1-5 p.m. at Lake Gregory, which is located at 24640 San Moritz Drive in Crestline. Summer Movies on the Meadow returns to Lake Gregory
Lake Greogry presents Movies on the Meadow summer movie series every Thursday at sunset held at the San Moritz Meadow. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for a movie under the stars. Bring your own snacks or onsite vendors will be available, offering delicious food and snacks to enjoy during the show. Tickets available for Lake Gregory’s Fireworks Extravaganza private viewing party
Join Lake Greogry for its 4th annual private viewing fireworks party on Saturday, July 6 at 6:30 p.m. The private viewing party includes premiere seating for the fireworks show, dinner, live music and a free raffle ticket for great giveaway prizes! Parking is limited and available on a first come, first served basis in the North Shore lot. Drinks are also available for purchase. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The fireworks show starts at 9 p.m. General admission tickets are $70 per person. Children under the age of five are free. Last day to purchase tickets is Friday, June 28.

Behavioral Health hosts Summer Wellness Extravaganza for community
The San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is excited to announce the Summer Wellness Extravaganza. This event will take place on Saturday, July 20, from 3 to 8 p.m. at California State University, San Bernardino. The event is free and open to the public, however, registration is required. In collaboration with the Department of Aging and Adult Services-Public Guardian and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Empire (BBBS), this event aims to connect youth and older adults to build resilience from the severe isolation and health impacts that may have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Summer Wellness Extravaganza will promote behavioral health awareness, physical well-being and overall wellness within the San Bernardino County communities. Attendees can look forward to various activities and resources at the event, including carnival games, food vendors, live music, fitness classes, mindfulness sessions, wellness activities and information booths.
In support of the event, Behavioral Health Director Dr. Geogina Yoshioka emphasized, “Events like this are a top priority for the county and our department. They offer a valuable opportunity to connect, engage, and have fun. San Bernardino County is not just where we live and work but also where we play, emphasizing that wellness is crucial for individuals of all ages!”
Additionally, Big Brothers Big Sisters will provide opportunities to experience the joy of mentorship. The U.S. Surgeon General noted mentorship programs as one of the best ways to help young people build connections and combat the Loneliness Epidemic. Attendees can learn more about the benefits of mentorship for their children or sign up to be a mentor to a young person for the day.
This collaborative effort underscores the importance of community partnerships in promoting well-being and supporting individuals in their journey toward better health. The Summer Wellness Extravaganza serves as a platform for education, empowerment and connection within the community.

Summer Meals program offers free, nutritious meals for kids, teens when school is out
Nutrition and Wellness Services is gearing up for summer meals! The Summer Meal Program is funded by the USDA and provides healthy meals to youth 18 and younger when school is not in session. There is no paperwork, enrollment or income qualifications required. Summer meals are served in many types of locations throughout San Bernardino County such as schools, parks, libraries and community centers. Some sites even provide fun activities for the kids. Nutrition and Wellness Services will be providing enrichment activities at 10 locations with a focus on Rethink Your Drink education and healthy beverage choices.

Free summer meal program ensures children have adequate nutrition
Starting this summer, low-income families can ensure their children have adequate nutrition while school is out with California SUN Bucks, also called Summer-EBT (S-EBT), a new federal meal program launched by the California Department of Social Services. SUN Bucks is a new permanent program that helps families with school-aged children buy groceries during the summer months, June through August 2024, when children might not have access to school meals.
For summer 2024, the state will automatically enroll approximately 5 million eligible children based on existing school and social services data.
Children will automatically get SUN Bucks if:
- They are age 6 – 18 years and get CalFresh, CalWORKs or Medi-Cal; OR
- They are age 0 – 22 years, attending schools that are a part of National School Lunch and/or School Breakfast Programs, AND are approved for free or reduced-price meals.
- Note: Parents and caretakers should check with their child’s school to make sure their free or reduced-price meal application or Alternative Income Form is on file.
- Children who are attending Head Start, experiencing homelessness, living in foster care or are part of a migrant family are also automatically eligible.
SUN Bucks are put on an S-EBT card that will be mailed out during the months of June through September 2024. Each eligible child will receive one card with $120 to buy groceries – that’s $40 per month for June, July and August. The S-EBT card can be used just like a debit card to buy food like fruits, vegetables, meat, whole grains, and dairy at grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and other places that accept CalFresh EBT benefits. Children who get SUN Bucks can still participate in other summer meal programs.
SUN Bucks must be used within 122 days of funds being loaded to the S-EBT card. Any unused money on the card after 122 days will expire. Expired benefits cannot be replaced or put back on the card.
Families are encouraged to update their mailing address, so their SUN Bucks are sent to the right place.
Those receiving CalWORKs, CalFresh or Medi-Cal, can update their address online at BenefitsCal.com, call 1 (877) 410-8829, or visit their local county office.
Parents of children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals can update their address at their child’s school of attendance.
