Big changes are underway at three San Bernardino County Library branches as the library continues investing in welcoming, modern spaces designed to better serve residents and meet the evolving needs of local communities.
The Rialto and Montclair branches are temporarily closed for renovations, with both locations anticipated to reopen in early October. The Yucaipa branch is scheduled to temporarily close on Monday, Sept. 14, with plans to reopen in early November.
“These improvements represent an investment not only in our libraries, but in the communities we serve,” said County Librarian Melanie Orosco. “We want our branches to be welcoming spaces where residents can read, learn, create and connect. We appreciate our customers’ patience while this work is completed and look forward to welcoming them back to refreshed spaces they can enjoy for years to come.”
At the Rialto branch, renovations include a new dedicated storytime area designed to create an inviting environment for the library’s youngest customers and their families. The branch will also welcome a new Animaker Space, developed in collaboration with Garner Holt Education Through Imagination, expanding opportunities for customers to explore creativity, technology and hands-on learning.
The Montclair branch refresh includes a new layout, added study rooms and updated flooring designed to enhance the library’s functionality and create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for customers.
The Yucaipa branch improvements include a refreshed layout, new flooring and added study rooms. Together, these enhancements are designed to create a more functional, welcoming environment and improve the overall library experience.
While the branches are temporarily closed, customers are encouraged to visit another SBCL location to access library materials, programs and services. SBCL’s digital library also remains available around the clock, providing access to eBooks, audiobooks and other online resources from virtually anywhere.
The improvements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance library spaces throughout San Bernardino County and ensure branches remain vibrant community destinations where residents of all ages can discover new interests, access resources and connect with one another.
Specific reopening dates and additional information will be shared as renovations progress.
