The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat watch for San Bernardino County beginning today, Thursday, and continuing through Friday evening, with temperatures reaching or exceeding triple digits and increasing the risk of heat-related illness.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, seek out air-conditioned spaces, avoid the sun and look after neighbors and loved ones.

Find an air-conditioned public space by visiting San Bernardino County Cool Places to Go or by dialing the United Way’s toll-free resource telephone line at 2-1-1. Seniors can also take advantage of the Senior Information and Assistance Hotline at 1-800-510-2020.

County Library

When temperatures soar, County Library branches offer more than just books; they provide a refreshing break from the heat. Open to all, our air-conditioned, welcoming spaces invite community members to relax, learn and connect in comfort.

Session 4 Programs are here! From now until Sept. 27, join us for fun, free and educational activities at your local County Library branch. Don’t miss out—there’s something for everyone!

In addition to books and programs, visitors can enjoy free access to public computers and high-speed Wi-Fi, which is perfect for job searching, research or simply staying connected. Need a quiet place to study or work? Our libraries provide that, too.

We also offer a range of weekly programs tailored specifically for seniors in our community, hosted at the Mentone Senior Center. It’s a great place to stay cool, socialize and take part in enriching activities.

So, this summer, don’t just stay indoors; step into your local County Library for a cool place to be in every sense of the word. Learn more about our libraries by visiting library.sbcounty.gov.
