Supervisors support the Upland Project

The Board of Supervisors approved Second District Supervisor Jesse Armendarez’s Priority Programs Project request to provide funding to the City of Upland to support a comprehensive Economic Development and Inflation Reduction Project, also known as the Upland Project.

The Upland Project aims to stimulate local economic growth, create job opportunities, reduce the impact of inflation on residents and business and create new housing and business opportunities in downtown Upland.

The Upland Project aligns with the Countywide Vision to improve the overall economic performance of the region and expand housing choices for residents through new construction.

Board funds County Fire drones

The Board of Supervisors approved Fourth District Supervisor Curt Hagman’s Priority Programs Project request to purchase two long-range electric unmanned ariel drones for the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District.

The drones will enhance operations, allow for quicker response to calls in remote or hard-to-reach areas and improve coordination among allied agencies during unified command, promoting seamless collaboration and response efficiency.

Grant secured for Lake Gregory boat launch replacement

The Board of Supervisors approved a $300,000 grant agreement with the California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways for the restoration of Lake Gregory’s boat launch facility. The improvements include upgrades such as designing a public low-freeboard boarding float, restroom, improved entrance roadways and additional parking stalls, trailer parking, lighting and signage.  

The Lake Gregory Boat Launch Replacement project aligns with the Countywide Vision by improving the health and wellness of residents in San Bernardino County through recreation and physical activity.

Behavioral health clinical training partnership with California Baptist University

To strengthen the local behavioral healthcare workforce, the Board of Supervisors approved a non-financial agreement with California Baptist University (CBU) to provide clinical training to master’s in social work (MSW) students at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC).

Due to the high volume and diversity of patients at ARMC, the MSW students will receive comprehensive clinical training that will bridge their educational knowledge with hands-on, experiential learning. The agreement will be in effect until October 2029.

Economic data platform agreement approved

The San Bernardino County Economic Development Department secured a one-year contract with Data Axle Inc. for access to its Reference Solutions Platform.

San Bernardino County departments, businesses and cities within the county request business listing information from Economic Development to understand the existing and growing industries in the county. This tool provides accurate data on active and historical U.S.-based business listings, which Economic Development will use to improve its business research services and in efforts to attract new businesses to the region.

The enhanced business research services align with the Countywide Vision of growing industry sectors that will generate jobs for residents.

Emergency response vehicle retrofitting

The Board of Supervisors approved a five-year $1.5 million contract with Innovative Emergency Equipment for the retrofitting and installation of specialized safety equipment in San Bernardino County Fire Protection District emergency response vehicles.

When the vehicles have outlived its useful life, new vehicles, such as sport utility vehicles, pick-up trucks and off-highway vehicles, are purchased and retrofitted with emergency lights, sirens, command boxes, center consoles and all necessary equipment needed to help fire district first responders effectively handle any emergency situations.
