Thanks to the generous support of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, the San Bernardino County Library is making reading more fun than ever with brand-new book vending machines for kids!
During library programs, children who show positive behaviors — such as listening, sharing, helping out or joining in with enthusiasm — can earn a token from branch staff. That token can then be “spent” at the vending machine to pick out a brand-new book.
“The vending machines turn everyday good behavior into a fun, exciting reward,” said County Librarian Melanie Orosco. “It’s a great way to celebrate our youngest library visitors while showing them that the library is a welcoming place for kids and families.”
The book vending machines are available at these library locations:
- Chino Branch, 13180 Central Ave., Chino
- Fontana Lewis Library and Technology Center, 8437 Sierra Ave., Fontana
- Hesperia Branch, 9650 7th Ave., Hesperia
- Highland Sam J. Racadio Library and Environmental Learning Center
7863 Central Ave., Highland - Muscoy Baker Family Learning Center, 2818 Macy St., Muscoy
The books inside encourage creativity, learning and smiles — and every child who participates walks away feeling celebrated. Beyond just a fun reward, this program helps children and families take the next step in building their own home libraries, fostering a love of reading that extends well beyond the library walls.
With these machines, the County Library is making library programs more engaging, rewarding and downright fun for kids and their families — while planting the seeds for a lifelong love of reading.
