The San Bernardino County Behavioral Health Department’s Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP) is proud to announce a series of upcoming community trainings designed to equip residents, partners and service providers with life‑saving tools to recognize and respond to suicide risk. As part of its expanded training efforts, the office will now offer monthly training opportunities both throughout the county and virtually, making it easier for individuals to participate and access critical information.
OSP serves as the county’s central hub for suicide prevention education, resources and community collaboration. With a focus on empowering individuals through knowledge and awareness, OSP delivers evidence‑based trainings, fosters partnerships across sectors and supports community members in building skills to promote safety and hope. Through ongoing outreach and education efforts, the office works to strengthen a countywide network dedicated to reducing suicide and increasing access to help.
Among the trainings offered, safeTALK and QPR are evidence-based programs designed to empower participants to recognize signs of suicidal ideation and respond effectively. safeTALK focuses on teaching individuals how to identify persons at risk and connect them with appropriate support, while QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) provides practical steps to intervene and refer someone to help. Both trainings are accessible to community members and service providers, enhancing the county’s ability to promote safety and hope.
