To kick off summer and highlight the importance of water safety for young children, First 5 San Bernardino is hosting a Splish Splash Water Safety Fun Day on Friday, June 12, at Lake Gregory Regional Park from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Community Clean-Up Event in Lytle Creek, June 13

Land Use Services Code Enforcement Division will host a Community Cleanup event for residents of Lytle Creek only. 

The San Bernardino County Land Use Services Code Enforcement Division continues its effort to maintain clean and safe neighborhoods by hosting regular community clean-up events in unincorporated areas.

The next community clean-up event is scheduled for residents of Lytle Creek.

Residents should:

  • Secure and cover their loads before arriving
  • Bring no more than nine tires per household (rims accepted)
  • Be prepared to unload their own items
     

Accepted items include:

  • Trash and bulky items
  • Green waste
  • Tires
  • Electronics such as televisions, monitors, stereos, VCRs and cellphones

Items not accepted include:

  • Concrete
  • Hazardous waste such as oil, antifreeze, gasoline, pesticides, fluorescent lights, paint, pool supplies and medications

San Bernardino County Animal Care is excited to partner with the Inland Empire 66ers for a special “Animals aRe First Fund” Fundraiser Night on Saturday, June 13, at 6:35 p.m. at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino.

Community members are invited to enjoy an evening of baseball while supporting local shelter pets. For every ticket purchased through the designated fundraiser link, $4 will be donated back to Animals aRe First, helping support programs and services that benefit animals in our community.

As a special bonus, the first 1,200 fans through the gates will receive a complimentary “Kittens Jersey.”

Join Regional Parks for the fourth annual Family Fish & Wildlife Festival at Prado Regional Park on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this family-friendly event that provides hands-on fishing workshops with fishing supplies provided, live demonstrations, animal exhibits, food booths, live music and more.

Activities include archery lessons, games, face painting, arts and crafts, biking and more.

We encourage anglers and all attendees to bring their own chairs, food and snacks and spend the day with us. Food trucks will be on-site for hungry appetites as well.

All ages are welcome! Leashed pets are welcome too! Park admission is $15 per vehicle and free for those camping with us. Camping reservations can be made online at www.parkreservations.sbcounty.gov.

Children’s Network and Friday Night Live to host Summer Social for youth

Youth across the county are invited to the Friday Night Live Summer Social on June 17 at Glen Helen Regional Park.

On Wednesday, June 17, Children’s Network and the Department of Public Health’s Friday Night Live program will host the Friday Night Live Summer Social at Glen Helen Regional Park. The event will bring youth from across the county together for a full day of connection, learning and fun. The day begins with breakfast, followed by social-emotional learning activities, a keynote speaker from Leading to Change, lunch and shaved ice. The event will conclude with swim time at the swim complex and new waterslides.

“Events like the Summer Social help young people feel supported, valued and connected,” said Children’s Network Officer Ashley Brooksher. “When youth have safe spaces to learn, grow and build relationships, it strengthens families and communities across our county.”

“We are excited to bring youth together for a day that celebrates connection, learning and fun,” said Janki Patel, acting director of the Department of Public Health. “Our hope is that every young person leaves feeling supported and inspired by the community around them.” 

San Bernardino County youth ages 12 to 18 can register for the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check-in and breakfast take place from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Participants may be dropped off at the park, or parents and guardians may remain at the event. Registration information is available on the FNL Summer Social Eventbrite page.

Children’s Network serves as the Child Abuse Prevention Council for San Bernardino County and coordinates preventive programs and services through collaboration with community and county partners to strengthen child, family and community well-being. Friday Night Live is a youth-led substance use prevention program that supports leadership development for youth in elementary, middle and high schools through activity-based learning and community engagement.

Catch the Wave with the San Bernardino County Library this summer and dive into a season full of stories, adventure and imagination! Join our Summer Reading Program from June 8 through Aug. 2 for exciting books, fun activities and rewards all summer long.

The San Bernardino County Library is ready to make waves this summer with the launch of its annual Summer Reading Program (SRP), “Catch the Wave!” running June 8 through Aug. 2 at library branches across the county.

Readers of all ages are invited to dive into a summer packed with books, activities and shore-to-please events designed to keep minds active and imaginations swimming all season long. From toddlers to adults, participants can log reading, reel in prizes and ride the tide of discovery through free programs and hands-on experiences.

Participants can register beginning June 8 through the library’s Beanstack portal or at their local branch library.

“This year’s Summer Reading Program invites the community to surf into stories, explore new horizons and ‘seas’ the day through reading and learning,” said County Librarian Melanie Orosco. “Whether you’re flipping pages by the pool or diving into a new genre, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

Throughout the summer, library branches will host a wave of free events and educational entertainment, including:

  • Live performances and interactive shows
  • Family storytimes and themed programs
  • Teen and adult engagement events
  • Reading challenges and prize opportunities

The SRP helps prevent summer learning loss while encouraging lifelong literacy, creativity and community connection. Families are encouraged to “shell-e-brate” the season by visiting their local library and participating in programs designed to make reading part of every summer adventure.

Summer swim season continues at Glen Helen and Yucaipa swim complexes through Labor Day

Regional Parks welcomes visitors to the swim complexes at Glen Helen and Yucaipa Regional Parks for the summer swim season.

Regional Parks is excited to welcome everyone back to the Glen Helen and Yucaipa swim facilities this summer. The 2026 swim season schedule is as follows:

  • June 16-30 (every day except Mondays)
  • Fourth of July Weekend: July 3-5
  • July 7-31 (closed Mondays)
  • Aug. 1-30 (Saturday and Sundays only)
  • Labor Day Weekend: Sept. 5-7

Park and swim facility admission fees are separate. Park admission is $10 per vehicle Monday through Friday and $15 per vehicle on weekends and holidays. Holiday weekends include Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Swim ticket prices (now includes waterslide access)

  • Weekdays and weekends (non-holidays) Daily: $15 per person
  • Holidays, holiday weekends: $20 per person
    • (Example of a holiday weekend is if the holiday is on a Friday, the holiday price also applies to the Saturday and Sunday that follows. If the holiday is on a Monday, the holiday price also applies to the Saturday and Sunday that leads up to the Monday holiday.)
  • Children under age three (3) are free.
  • Family 4-pack $55 (does not apply to children under the age of 3 because their admission is free)
    • Family 4-pack not available for purchase on holidays and special events.

Waterslide height requirement

  • Must be at least 48″ (inches) tall to ride the slides. 

Swim entry is first-come, first-served, and reservations are not accepted. Visitors are encouraged to arrive as early as possible. The swim complexes may reach capacity early in the morning. The park opens at 7:30 a.m., and visitors are welcome to wait in line before the complex opens at 10 a.m.

Once all the wristbands are sold for the day, no new visitors will be allowed inside. Only service animals are allowed inside the swim complexes. No grills are allowed in the swim complexes. Swimmers who have wristbands may exit and re-enter the complex throughout the day until the pool closes at 4 p.m.

Yucaipa Swim Complex cabanas

No online or call-ahead reservations are accepted. Check availability at the swim complex on the day of the visit. Reservations and payment are accepted on the day of the visit at Yucaipa Regional Park’s pool facility on a first-come, first-served basis.

Weekends are considered Saturday and Sunday. Depending on what day a holiday falls on, holiday weekends may include a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and/or Monday.

Three (3) small picnic shelters with table and grill are available:

  • Daily (excluding holidays, holiday weekends and special events): $50/day
  • Daily on holidays, holiday weekends and special events: $100/day

County Library seeking car enthusiasts for “Read, Write, and Cruise” Route 66 Centennial Car Show

Read, Write & Cruise Car Show? Now that’s an event worth revving up for! Who says learning can’t come with a little horsepower? The San Bernardino County Library is bringing together books and bold builds—from hot rods to great reads—for a combination that truly stands out.

Car enthusiasts and community members across the High Desert are invited to rev up their engines for the Read, Write, and Cruise Car Show, rolling into the Hesperia Branch Library parking lot in celebration of the 100th anniversary of historic Route 66.

The event, hosted by the San Bernardino County Library, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a high-energy, family-friendly event that brings together chrome, culture and community all in one place.

With 100 total exhibit spaces available, vehicle registration is now open. Car enthusiasts are encouraged to claim their spot early. The library is currently accepting applications from participants showcasing hot rods, classic cars and off-road builds, with free entry for vehicle exhibitors.
 
Registration is open through June 12, or until all spaces are sold out, whichever comes first.
 
“Celebrating Route 66’s centennial gives us a unique opportunity to connect history, culture and community in a meaningful way,” said County Library Events Coordinator Jenni McCormick. “Read, Write, and Cruise brings together a shared passion for automotive culture while highlighting the library as a place for learning, creativity and connection.”
 
Attendees can expect a show-stopping lineup of vehicles — from polished classics to rugged off-roaders — alongside live entertainment, community vendors and interactive activities for all ages.

Guests are also invited to explore library resources and discover programs that keep the community learning and engaged all year long.
 
More than just a car show, Read, Write, and Cruise puts the County Library in the driver’s seat of innovative programming — where horsepower meets brainpower in celebration of Route 66’s legendary legacy.
 
The show will be open to the public at no charge and will feature up to 100 cars, along with music, food, vendors and prizes.
