More than 2,000 community members came together this past weekend for Recovery Happens, a celebration of hope, connection and the power of recovery in San Bernardino County.
Hosted by the San Bernardino County Behavioral Health Department, the annual event brought individuals, families, community partners and supporters together for an afternoon filled with free food, games, activities, entertainment and valuable behavioral health and recovery resources.
San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Jesse Armendarez opened the event with remarks recognizing those in recovery, their families and the many organizations and professionals who help make recovery possible throughout the county.
The strong turnout sent a powerful message: recovery is alive and thriving in San Bernardino County.
“Seeing more than 2,000 people come together to celebrate recovery is a reminder of the hope, strength and resilience that exists throughout our communities,” said Josh Dugas, acting director of Behavioral Health. “Recovery Happens is about celebrating every person on their journey, connecting people with support and reminding our residents that no one has to walk that journey alone. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make this celebration so meaningful.”
Beyond the celebration, Recovery Happens served as an opportunity for residents to learn about resources available throughout San Bernardino County and connect directly with organizations dedicated to supporting behavioral health, substance use recovery and overall wellness.
The event also provided a space to recognize the accomplishments of individuals in recovery and the families, friends, providers and community partners who support them along the way.
Behavioral Health extends its thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, participated and helped make this year’s Recovery Happens a success.
With more than 2,000 people showing up in support of recovery, San Bernardino County continues to demonstrate that recovery is possible, support is available and there is a community ready to celebrate every step forward.
