Recovery has a story and sometimes that story is best told through music.
The San Bernardino County Behavioral Health Department invites the community to experience the fifth annual Sound of Recovery, a unique concert celebrating hope, resilience and recovery through original music inspired by individuals from the recovery community.
The free event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the San Bernardino Valley College Auditorium, 701 S. Mount Vernon Ave. in San Bernardino. Check-in begins at 6:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7 p.m.
Sound of Recovery transforms personal experiences of recovery into music, giving voice to stories of struggle, strength, healing and hope. Through original songs, the event creates an opportunity for the community to hear recovery journeys in a powerful and deeply personal way.
“Recovery looks different for everyone, but at the center of every journey is hope,” said Josh Dugas, acting director of Behavioral Health. “Sound of Recovery gives us a powerful way to honor the experiences of individuals in recovery, celebrate how far they have come and remind others that recovery is possible. These stories deserve to be heard, celebrated and shared.”
The concert is part of Behavioral Health’s recognition of Recovery Month, a time to celebrate individuals living in recovery, recognize the families and professionals who support them and increase awareness of the resources available throughout San Bernardino County.
Sound of Recovery also serves as an opportunity to reduce stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorders while bringing together individuals in recovery, their loved ones, behavioral health professionals and community members.
Whether you are in recovery, supporting someone on their journey or simply want to experience an evening of meaningful music and connection, all are invited to attend.
