County continues AB 98 truck route outreach, invites public input

Residents are invited to attend upcoming open house events this month to learn more about the county’s continuing work to implement Assembly Bill 98 (AB 98), the statewide law that guides truck routes away from homes, schools and other sensitive areas.

San Bernardino County Land Use Services Department’s Long Range Planning team will present updates, answer questions and gather public input as part of the second phase of outreach. Each meeting will start with a short presentation highlighting recent progress, current implementation activities and next steps. Afterward, attendees can visit information stations and speak directly with agency representatives.

Interactive input options

Computers will be available at each event for residents to submit comments using the Social Pinpoint Map, an online system that allows users to drop pins, add notes and review feedback shared by others. Community members do not need to wait for a meeting to participate. The Social Pinpoint Map is accessible at any time, and online input carries the same weight as comments collected in person. Traditional comment cards will also be offered. Translation services and translated materials will be provided in Spanish.

Extensive outreach efforts

Since 2025, staff have partnered with Board of Supervisors district offices and community organizations to present proposed truck routes and gather early public concerns. More recent meetings have focused on steps needed for AB 98 implementation, including signage installation, roadway improvements and coordination among enforcement agencies.

Residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about AB 98 as well as share feedback that will help shape future annual reviews and planning decisions. No new truck routes are being proposed at this time. Public Works will continue conducting yearly evaluations, each with opportunities for public comment.
