Summer is flying by, and so are the opportunities to experience some of the most exciting family events of the season at San Bernardino County Library branches. As part of the County Library’s popular Catch the Wave Summer Reading Program, a lineup of free, high-energy performers is making its way across all 32 library branches, bringing unforgettable experiences to communities throughout the county for a limited time only.
From jaw-dropping magic and live animal encounters to hands-on science shows, giant bubbles and laugh-out-loud comedy, these one-day-only performances are transforming libraries into destinations for summer fun. Families are encouraged to check their local branch schedules and plan accordingly, as many programs attract large crowds and space may be limited.
“Every summer, our performer series becomes one of the most anticipated parts of the Summer Reading Program,” said County Assistant Librarian Kristin Stevens. “These are experiences families talk about long after the event ends. We encourage residents to take advantage of these free opportunities before the summer season comes to a close.”
This year’s performer lineup includes crowd favorites such as The Arty Loon Show, Billy Bonkers, Brettso the Great, California Joe, David Skale, Full Spectrum Shows, Wonders of Wildlife, Wild Man Dan and Zany Zoe. Each performance offers a unique blend of entertainment and learning designed to inspire curiosity and spark a love of reading.
With only a handful of weeks remaining in the Catch the Wave Summer Reading Program, now is the perfect time for residents of all ages to visit their local library, complete reading challenges, earn prizes and take part in special events available exclusively during the summer program.
Whether it’s holding an exotic animal, being amazed by a magician’s illusion, learning the science behind giant bubbles or participating in an interactive balloon experience, these are the moments that make summer memorable—and they’re happening right now at County Library branches.
The Catch the Wave Summer Reading Program continues through Aug. 2. Participants can register through Beanstack or visit their local library branch to join the fun.
